Think Before You Animate; TIPS

Few points one should think before starting any animation shot:
What is in characters mind and who he is : Besides physical attributes of the character
the characteristic of the character and the present state of mind is decides his attitude.
A rich man and poor man or a thief and a policeman would have a different attitude in
    a normal circumstance,
similarly a policeman in a hurry and a policeman in a sad mood
would be behaving in a different ways.
Usually when animators animate a random shot they don’t think this way and end up with a messed up shot.

These are the step Animators should follow :

1.RnD: Research and development of the shot…in terms of character, references,
    and acting yourself.

2.Planning: After the research and consulting the available references..finally planning
    on the paper as thumbnails.

3.Blocking: Blocking the major key poses that can communicate the story (story telling poses) in stepped mode…so that you can work on your poses without been distracted with the inbetween animation created by 3D software.

4.Breakdowns: Breakdowns comes between two key poses , that defines the arc, overlapping and favoring of the pose according to timing required.

5.Timing: At this step we spline or clamped all the stepped curves and adjust the keys according to desired timing.

6.Polishing: Where we clean all the curves, check and recheck again…add delays , offsets and other secondary movements. Basically the fine-tuning of animation frame by frame .
