Samsung introduced three new cameras at the start of this year’s
IFA. We got the NX200 mirror-less camera with interchangeable lenses,
the normal-to-wacky-in-3.5 MV800 compact and the WB750 superzoom.
We start with the most exciting of the bunch – the Samsung NX200. Not only is this the highest resolution camera in the EVIL (electronic viewfinder, interchangeable lenses) class with its 20.3 MP APS-C sensor, but it also packs a sweet sounding 3″ 614k-dot AMOLED screen on the back.
The Samsung NX200 also does 1080p video recording at 30fps and 7fps burst shooting. All this goodness is packed in a body measuring just 117 x 63 x 36mm and weighing a mere 220 g (presumably this excludes battery weight). At a price of a dollar under $900 this thing actually seems like a real bargain.
Moving on to the Samsung MV800 we see the next step in the evolution of dual-screen cameras that Samsung introduced last year. Those turned out quite popular back then and we believe the MV (for MultiView) 800 looks like it has quite good potential too.
Instead of having a second screen on the front the 16MP Samsung MV800
has a 3″ main LCD that flips 180° and stands on top of the camera. That
way you can use the entire display for checking yourselves out, while
taking self-portraits. With a 1/2.3″ sensor on board, though, it’s a
run-of-the mill point-and-shoot in terms of image quality.
Finally, we have the Samsung WB750 compact with its 18x zoom lens, which covers the ample range of 24-432mm in 35mm equivalent. This one is built around a 12.5 megapixel 1/2.3″ sensor and a 3″ TFT LCD. The WB750 does 1080p video recording, but its dimensions and weight aren’t confirmed yet.
Unfortunately Samsung provided no details about the pricing and availability of the MV800 and WB750.
